Over the four months that our grandmother was staying at The Lutheran Home following her stroke, she was admitted to Northwest Community Hospital several times. Ultimately, she entered hospice there and peacefully passed away at the age of 98. Overall, our family had a positive experience with the care she received. Most of the nurses, aides, and members of the care team were attentive, compassionate, and treated our grandmother with dignity. They worked hard to keep her comfortable, clean, and well cared for, and we are grateful for their efforts during such a difficult time. We were especially appreciative of the hospice team. They showed kindness, patience, and compassion not only to our grandmother but also to our entire family. Their support helped us navigate an incredibly emotional experience. There were a couple of younger nurses or aides who occasionally seemed distracted by their phones and could have been more attentive. Fortunately, this was the exception rather than the norm. Subject: Dangerous understaffing, outdated equipment, and zero patient care I was brought to the NCH Emergency Room this past Sunday via ambulance due to severe, debilitating back pain and extremely limited mobility. Instead of receiving urgent medical attention, I was left neglected in the waiting room for over three hours. The accommodations for patients in severe pain are entirely unacceptable: Damaged/Injured by Equipment: The wheelchair I was given was ancient, rigid, and completely worn down. A hard bar running right across the seat where I was sitting (highlighted in the attached photo) was actively digging directly into my butt. Sitting on that hard metal bar for hours severely worsened my existing back pain. Severe Understaffing: After waiting for over three hours, I asked the front desk how many doctors were on duty. I was shocked to hear there were only two. When I asked for the number to file a formal complaint, the staff member didn't even defend the hospital—he told me to absolutely call and tell management they desperately need more personnel. I was in the gastroenterology department for a procedure today. From the minute I was brought back, I was met with the kindest and caring staff. Each person from nursing, anesthesiologist, and my doctor took the time for questions and concerns. My nerves got a hold of me and my nurse, Doug sat and talked with me with reassuring words. This kindness meant the world to me. I highly recommend this department and its staff.

I am assuming this is a bed pan cleaner- Agnes was incredibly impolite and crude to every degree. She was incredibly short with my ill mother in the ER, and she barely explained anything to me before she took her. Just told me I wasn’t allowed, but didn’t explain why the daughter of the patient couldn’t go back with her. I’m surprised she passed any exam, considering bedside manner is a huge aspect of the examinations. As a healthcare professional myself, this poorly reflects on the entire hospital that each one of my family members were born in. I’m incredibly disappointed and disgusted with the decline of this hospital, and hope proper vetting is necessary for each employee working at this so called hospital. A joke, truly. And not shy of three years ago, while my grandma was waiting in the ER emergency room at this here hospital, not only was she not helped during a COPD respiratory crisis, they gave her an empty oxygen canister, causing her to have a myocardial infarction in the waiting room of the emergency department. Words cannot express how disappointed I am constantly and completely appalled.

I had a really good experience on the Diamond Headache Unit in January 2026! Fewer interruptions than the last hospital, fewer announcements, they let me sleep in peace so the medicine could help my head. I found the quality of care excellent and the unit peaceful. From what I was told that was only the temporary unit and the new unit was built one floor down was supposed to be even more relaxing.
